Klaus: New Clip Gives Us a Look at Netflix’s Animated Christmas Movie

Netflix has produced a lot of original films over the years, but this Christmas will give us a new animated movie in the form of Klaus. The movie is set to air in the second week of November, and just in we have a new clip introducing us to the main villains of Smeerensburg.

Check it out:

Welcome to Smeerensburg, home of the finest family feuds. From the 100 Day Brawl of '45 to the Great Mooning of '86, a Krum despises an Ellingboe, and an Ellingboe can't stand a Krum.

I have to say, the animation is amazing, and it's kind of refreshing to have it in 2D, what with most big films focusing on 3D animation nowadays. Personally, I like the tone of the colors used in the film; it kind of brings a certain warmth that you don't really feel with 3D, but then again, maybe that's just the nostalgia talking.

Hopefully, this is just a one-off project for Netflix and not something that builds into a franchise. I have to say, after all these world-building movies coming out, it's nice to see a self-contained story that's not promising more to come. Fingers crossed this just opens doors to more animated films in this style.

When Jesper (Jason Schwartzman) distinguishes himself as the postal academy's worst student, he is stationed on a frozen island above the Arctic Circle, where the feuding locals hardly exchange words let alone letters. Jesper is about to give up when he finds an ally in local teacher Alva (Rashida Jones), and discovers Klaus (Oscar® winner J.K. Simmons), a mysterious carpenter who lives alone in a cabin full of handmade toys. These unlikely friendships return laughter to Smeerensburg, forging a new legacy of generous neighbors, magical lore and stockings hung by the chimney with care.

Klaus is set to air on Netflix on Nov. 15.
