Kate Middleton will be making history if she successfully replaces Prince Andrew's military title. The Duke of York was stripped of his military affiliations and royal patronages amid his sexual assault lawsuit in the United States.

Kate Middleton To Replace Prince Andrew's Military Title

The Duchess of Cambridge has a number of titles, but new reports suggest that the Queen will give her a military role. Kate Middleton is allegedly set to be the next Colonel of Grenadier Guards and will replace Prince Andrew after the title was stripped from him.

The military role was returned to Her Majesty by default and the senior officials wanted it to be given to Middleton.

"From straw polling through the ranks, they would all love it to be Kate," an insider told The Times. "We all admire the way she has fitted in and behaved, she never seems to put a foot wrong."

A military source claimed that the new colonel was supposed to be named Monday. However, the announcement was pushed back. The tipster said it wasn't Middleton but added that the fact that the announcement was not made, they "have been thinking about it again."

Kate Middleton Will Break Royal History If Queen Makes Her Colonel

The Grenadier Guards were formed in 1656 by King Charles II. They have fought in almost all major campaigns of the British Army, including Napoleonic, Crimean, Boer, First and Second World Wars.

Prince Philip was a colonel before he retired in 2017. Prince Andrew took over the position after he stepped back from his official duties in 2019. If the role is given to Kate Middleton, it will break the royal history because that will make the Duchess of Cambridge the first appointed female colonel in the regiment's 366-year history.

Yes, making a female royal a colonel is unprecedented and if the rumor is true, Prince William's wife, Kate Middleton, will be the first one.
