Kate Middleton made her debut at Wimbledon 2022 Tuesday. She arrived with her husband, Prince William, at the annual tennis tournament. But the Duchess of Cambridge once suffered a major heartbreak when she was banned from the event.

Kate Middleton Banned From Wimbledon Finals 2013

The Duchess of Cambridge is a tennis enthusiast. She loves sports too much that she was named the patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club.

She has been a regular at Wimbledon even before she married Prince William. However, in 2013, she was not allowed to attend the tournament's final game because she was heavily pregnant with Prince George.

She was excited to watch the finals in person and even begged her doctor to allow her. However, she was told "definitely not," Daily Mail reported.

Middleton missed witnessing Andy Murray's victory over Novac Djokovic at the time, but she sent the champion a letter.

"I was very heavily pregnant. I wrote to him [Murray] afterwards saying sorry for not being there," the duchess confessed.

As a tennis fan, she spent hours lining up just to get a ticket for Wimbledon when she was not a royal.

"Being able to go into Wimbledon and be part of an amazing atmosphere is special," the future queen consort said.

Although Middleton loves tennis so much, the royal mom feels that the sports is not for her. According to her, Wimbledon inspired her and every time she watched it, she would tell herself, "Yes, I could do the same." However, she realized that while she could get out the racket, "Sadly, not the same results."
