The Duchess of Cambridge loves tennis and just made her Wimbledon debut Tuesday. Kate Middleton's family shares the same passion. The members of the Middleton family have been watching the tennis tournament for years.

Middleton has been a regular in Centre Court's Royal Box over the years, including her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, and siblings Pippa and James. The Duchess of Cambridge's family has access to the Royal Box, along with celebrities, tennis legends and other VIPs.

However, in 2017, Carole and Pippa got denied into the exclusive area and were relegated to the standard seats, Express reported. According to the outlet, the mother and daughter were too late for Andy Murray's fourth-round match against Benoit Paire.

Despite the change of seating, they both enjoyed the game. Carole and Pippa were photographed smiling and laughing.

There are only 74 seats in the VIP, and only limited persons are given access to the Royal Box, including the Middletons. There are also rules to follow.

In 2015, Lewis Hamilton lost his place in the Royal Box after violating the strict dress code requiring men to wear a jacket and tie, Hello Magazine reported.

Kate Middleton Speaks About Personal And Family's Wimbledon Experience

The Duchess of Cambridge spoke about her family's Wimbledon experiences in a BBC documentary, Our Wimbledon. According to her, she was also banned from attending the tournament in 2013.

"I was very heavily pregnant with George so I wasn't able to turn up," the duchess explained, per Express.

TV presenter Sue Barker comforted the royal and said she had a good reason. Prince William's wife explained that she still tried to ask her doctor's permission, but "the doctors were like 'no.'"

Middleton wrote Murray, who won the championship that year,  a letter to congratulate him. The duchess also shared her family's experience at the annual tennis tournament, including her mom Carole's secret crush on eight-time champion Roger Federer.

"Roger is my mother’s heartthrob," Middleton said. "I don’t think she will mind me saying that! I think he probably knows that too."

On Tuesday, Middleton made her debut at Wimbledon 2022. She arrived at the Royal Box with Prince William.

The duchess looked around after being seated and was caught on camera blowing a kiss and waving her hand. The sweet gesture was for her parents, Carole and Michael, who were also in attendance and were seated away from her, People reported.
