Gege Akutami's Jujutsu Kaisen is back this week after sending us readers on edge from the previous chapter. The supernatural shōnen manga has steadily gained popularity following the release of the first season of the anime adaptation by MAPPA. According to Anime News Network, the manga has over 40 million copies in circulation and this number is surely continuing to grow.
In Chapter 148, titled Perfect Preparation, we witness the problematic schemes and behavior of the Zenin family. Maki is immediately bullied by Naoya upon entering their estate but she remains unfazed.
She heads for the Cursed Tools Warehouse but it has been emptied out. The only ones there are her father, Ogi, and an injured Mai. It has also been revealed that the family plans to kill Maki, Mai, and Megumi. With this, Ogi and Maki begin a fight to the death.

According to International Business Times, we finally get to see the outcome of the fight between Maki and Ogi. Maki has lost and Ogi drags her along with Mai to a room filled with curses.
Once he leaves the room, Mai checks on Maki. Already long aware of what their demise could be, she creates one last weapon for Maki—which kills her.
Ogi then notices that all the curses from where the twins were have disappeared. He is immediately reminded of Toji once Maki walks out of the room. He releases a technique, beckoning for her to attack him once again. Maki effortlessly slices his face in half.
