Harry Potter fans already know a lot of things about Albus Dumbledore. However, Jude Law needed some help when he was preparing for his role in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Luckily, J.K. Rowling was there for him.
Law recently is currently promoting The New Pope while speaking to Vanity Fair but he also opened up about his experience working on Fantastic Beasts 2. Interestingly, the Captain Marvel star shared how Rowling stepped in to help him prepare for his role as the young Dumbledore.
"I think one of the beautiful moments in preparation was working with J.K. Rowling. I spent an afternoon when she gave me the entire history of this great character," Law said. "I remember she went in and she was having tea. She had these incredible heels on. She said 'OK, if you don't mind I'm going to stand up.' And she stood up for nearly three hours and just walked up and down, talked, talked — and it just came out, it's just living in her."
Not surprisingly, Law loved how Rowling gave him all the information he needed about Dumbledore. He also admitted that although he wasn't able to use everything he learned in the second Fantastic Beasts movie, he will get a better chance in the next one.
"I'm sitting there scribbling down notes and getting all of this incredible insight into this character, which I had a little opportunity to use in [The Crimes of Grindelwald] and next year I go ahead and we do another chapter. There's more to come with that," Law said.
For now, it is still unclear when Fantastic Beasts 3 will begin production although a previous report suggested the movie will start filming early this year. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
The next episode of The New Pope will premiere on HBO on January 24. Fantastic Beasts 3 is scheduled for release on November 12, 2021.
