Josh Brolin on Thanos' MCU Return: "I Would Do It I'm Sure"

Now that the MCU is currently on board with Phase 4, it's hard not to wonder at Marvel's previous phase, the decade-long run Infinity Saga. Starting from 2008's Iron-Man and officially ended with 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home, with two notable films including Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War which served as the culmination of the eleven-year Infinity Saga.

Talking about the Infinity Saga, Phase 3's conclusion centers on Mad Titan Thanos, played by Hollywood vet Josh Brolin. After being teased in 2012's The Avengers post-credit scene, Brolin reprised the role in 2014's Guardian of The Galaxy but officially introduced himself as the Phase 3's big bad in Avengers: Infinity War.

The Infinity Saga storyline follows Thanos' villainous adventure in collecting all the Infinity Stones, which the Mad Titan successfully accomplished and wiped out half of the entire universe.

Now that MCU centers on the multiverse storyline, diving into different timelines and meeting different variants, will we ever see the ruthless Mad Titan again?

Thanos actor Josh Brolin was a guest for Sirius XM's Jess Cagle Show, where he addressed Thanos' potential future in the MCU. When asked, Brolin responded, "They have their own trajectory that they're worrying about and if they want me to do it, I would do it I'm sure, but I don't know what they're thinking."

"I don't know what their plan is. We've kind of bookended this thing after 10 years. I was so happy and I loved being involved in that so much because that wasn't the intention when I first got involved," the actor added.

Brolin went on to explain that he never thought that the villain would be a pivotal character in the MCU, Brolin explained, "The whole Thanos character, it was more of a cameo and they liked the character so much. They had never felt like they had a villain that was substantial enough for what they were creating and then I think they felt like they found it and then there were two movies that kind of revolved around it. It was a lot of fun and it worked out for them very nicely."

As much as we want to see Josh Brolin as the Mad Titan Thanos, it might not be a good idea for Marvel.

Infinity Saga ended with Tony Stark's sacrifice to undo the snap and snapped Thanos away for good. If Marvel brings back Thanos in the future, Tony Stark's sacrifice would be a total waste and fans would likely protest.

Fortunately for Josh Brolin, he can still come back as a renowned villain for the fan-beloved character Deadpool. Brolin starred as Cable in 2018's Deadpool 2, and the sequel's ending didn't directly point out if Brolin's character is officially out of the franchise. With that being said, Marvel could still play with Brolin's Cable for Deadpool 3.

Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame are still streaming in Disney+.
