Jonah Hill No Longer In Talks To Play A Villain In The Batman Movie

Back in September, reports got out about Jonah Hill in talks with Warner Bros. to play a villain in Matt Reeves' The Batman. Fans speculated whether the actor would play Penguin or Riddle, but it looks like the 21 Jump Street star won't play either of the two.

According to Deadline, Hill will not be playing the villain and talks do break with these kinds of big projects. The outlet says Warner Bros. is eyeing some new candidates for the role. Deadline also mentioned that the production is interested in Seth Rogen for the role of Penguin, but there's no definite news on that yet. It's worth noting that this news broke out just days after Zoe Kravitz's role for the movie as Selina Kyle a.k.a Catwoman was announced.

One reason why this deal fell through is maybe because of money. If you recall, Hill reportedly wanted a $10 million pay for the movie, which is twice the amount that the lead, Robert Pattinson, would get.

It's unfortunate that the actor is no longer in talks to play the villain since a lot of fans were ecstatic to hear the news about Hill's potential appearance in the movie. For now, Zoe Kravitz, Robert Pattinson, and Jeffrey Wright are the ones that are confirmed for The Batman.

Warner Bros. will now be looking elsewhere for an actor to play the villain, so further details for the cast aren't expected to be announced so soon.

Matt Reeves will direct, produce, and co-write The Batman. Along with Dylan Clark to produce as well, and Mattson Tomlin who will also write the script. Michael E. Uslan will be the executive producer for the film and production is expected to begin in January.

The Batman premieres on June 25, 2021.
