Considering that the Game of Thrones finale didn't do enough justice for the missing Targaryen son, a Jon Snow spin-off would make sense. But Kit Harington is surrendering all hopes that the show will ever happen in the future.

Kit Harington Surrenders Hope For Jon Snow Spin-Off

Any fans of the show would know that Jon Snow deserved a much grander ending than leading the Men of the Night's Watch in the Game of Thrones season 8 finale.

The planned sequel was first announced in June 2022. Two years later, nothing else has been said or promoted about the storyline, with Kit Harington's only words usually being "not happening anytime soon anyway."

Well, his most recent interview most likely established that there is no Jon Snow spin-off to expect anymore.

"We spent a couple of years back and forth developing it. And it just didn't... nothing got us excited enough," Harington recently told GQ, adding that they hit a snag in developing what kind of spin-off the Jon Snow series should look like.

"In the end, I kind of backed out and said, 'I think if we push this any further and keep developing it, we could end up with something that's not good.' And that's the last thing we all want."

Initially, Harington said that "there could be an interesting and important story about the soldier after the war." However, he later explained that they had to "divorce completely from this previous thing" since they were only "a few years after it."

The Eternals star described that while his Jon Snow role was "the biggest, most important piece of work I do", he should "separate himself from [the show]" before producing anything that comes after it.

"It's kind of essential to do my job, for people to come and see me and not see Jon Snow," he said.

Quite unfortunate for Jon Snow fans to hear, but Harington's words ring true.

Similar to not having the feeling that he should watch House of the Dragon, what could compel fans or other viewers to watch a Jon Snow spin-off beyond the events of Game of Thrones?
