Joker’s Joaquin Phoenix Nabs Best Actor Award at The Hollywood Critics Association Awards

Joker star Joaquin Phoenix may have just recently been arrested during an environmental protest outside DC, however, the DC actor's predicament isn't keeping him from his winning streak at the awards circuit this year.

Last weekend, Phoenix won the award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture at the Golden Globes thanks to his performance in Todd Philipp's gritty character study of the Clown Prince of Crime. The film also nabbed eleven nominations by the British Academy of Film and Television earlier this week including nominations for Best Film, Best Director, Best Leading Actor, and Best Score.

Now, it looks like Phoenix has done it again, winning the award for Best Actor at the Hollywood Critics Association Awards. The full list for the awards was released on Friday morning (via ComicBook.com), and it seems like Phoenix has been named Best Actor by the award-giving body.

This shouldn't come as a surprise to fans. Despite the controversy surrounding the film, Phoenix gave a powerful performance in Joker, stunning everyone with his depiction of the mentally ill Arthur Fleck and the character's journey into becoming Joker.

The Academy-Award winning actor has been named 2019's best actor by various award-giving bodies aside from the Golden Globes and the Hollywood Critics Association. Phoenix has also been recognized as the year's best actor by the Phoenix Films Critics Society, New York Film Critics, and by the San Diego Film Critics Society.

The Academy Awards has yet to reveal its shortlist for the major awards categories, but many expect Phoenix to be one of those listed to win Best Actor at the Oscars in February.

Joker is available on Digital HD, DVD, Blu-Ray, and Ultra HD Blu-Ray.
