Joker Star Zazie Beetz Wants To Play X-Men's Storm In MCU

You might know her as Domino in Deadpool 2 or Sophie in Joker, but Zazie Beetz clearly wants to be a completely different character. The Atlanta actress has just admitted that she is interested in taking the role of the mutant Storm once the X-Men are introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In case you didn't know, there was a time when Beetz almost played Storm. She had auditioned for the role in X-Men: Apocalypse but Alexandra Shipp was ultimately chosen to play the mutant. Nevertheless, Beetz told ScreenGeek that she is open to possibly take the role now that the X-Men are expected to join the MCU.

"Yeah, I think I would be down," Beetz said. "I guess obviously it depends on the script and it depends on if I think it's a good script. I think it would be super fun to do that."

Although she's eager to play the X-Men character, Beetz also pointed out that it might be confusing for fans who already associate her with another mutant (Domino) or as Arthur Fleck's "girlfriend."

"Storm also essentially is such an iconic character. I mean it would be kind of big shoes to fill, I think," Beetz said. "I wouldn't want to confuse audiences too much and be all over the place and now I'm doing DC as well. I think it would be super fun. I think it would be a dope opportunity."

The idea of Beetz playing Storm is a welcome one but we also want to keep seeing Domino in the future. For now, we're hoping that Domino will show up in a third Deadpool movie.

Beetz appears in Joker, which is still screening in theaters worldwide.
