John Wick 4 is one of the most highly anticipated sequels that will be released in 2022. However, fans are also concerned that the film's official title has not yet been announced. Interestingly, the fourth John Wick movie's subtitle has been revealed in an awesome crew wrap gift from Keanu Reeves. In addition to that, it teases a major connection to a real-life legendary warrior!
The new John Wick film had previously wrapped production and stunt performer Tsvetolyub Iliev shared some of the awesome gifts he received from Reeves and director Chad Stahelski. One of the cool merch included in the present was a black drawstring bag that reveals the John Wick 4 official title.
It's another odd subtitle just like John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, which made use of a foreign word. So what does "Hagakure" mean? It is a possible reference to the book Hagakure (or Hagakure Kikigai) which collects the commentaries of the samurai named Yamamoto Tsunetomo who lived in the 1700s. It is also known as the Book of the Samurai and reflects on how to maintain a warrior class in the absence of war.
It seems unlikely that John Wick or the Bowery King will be worried about the absence of war considering that they are in the middle of one when we last saw them. With that in mind, John Wick: Hagakure might be referring to the literal meaning of the word. Hagakure translates to "hidden by the leaves" or "hidden leaves" which might explain John and Bowery King's current situation.
For now, Lionsgate has not yet made an official announcement about John Wick 4's title. However, there is a possibility we'll be getting an update before the end of the year. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
John Wick 4 also stars Laurence Fishburne, Ian McShane, Lance Riddick, and Rina Sawayama. New cast members include Donnie Yen, Shamier Anderson, Bill Skarsgård, Hiroyuki Sanada, Scott Adkins, and Clancy Brown. The sequel is scheduled for release on May 27, 2022.
