John Cena’s Peacemaker Spotted in Set Video for The Suicide Squad

James Gunn's The Suicide Squad is currently in production, and we have yet to get an official first look at the film. Some set photos have been coming out online though, and a new video gives us a look at John Cena's character, Peacemaker.

With a name like Peacemaker, I'm really curious as to what kind of characterization James Gunn has in mind for this guy. What I think is, Cena's character is going to be some kind of reformed criminal, and that's why he dresses as dorky as he does. He's probably going to be the butt of the joke for everyone, but when the going gets tough, he's the one who turns out to hit the hardest.

I actually think that Cena has some great comedic timing, and I'm eager to see how he fares in a project that was written by James Gunn. With the movie being rated R though, I'm hoping Gunn gives us some more risqué humor as compared to the PG-13 jokes of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise; something closer to Super with Rainn Wilson.

For now, The Suicide Squad is aiming for a release on Aug. 6, 2021. One of the main members, Harley Quinn, is set to come back to theaters in Birds of Prey which premieres Feb. 7.
