While we thought James Gunn's The Suicide Squad was going to give us a whole new roster of characters, he's apparently bringing back some familiar faces from the first film. One of them will be Joel Kinnaman, who played Rick Flagg in the film, and Kinnaman is teasing his preparations for returning to the role.
Check it out:
Though Flagg doesn't have any special powers of his own, he's basically the leader of the group, and the only one of the squad who isn't really a criminal. I'm actually happy to see him back for the sequel, seeing as he had great chemistry with Will Smith in the first movie. Smith may be out for this film, but maybe Flagg can have his own interesting kind of character development.
Besides Flagg, the movie is also bringing back Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, and Amanda Waller. We're also getting some new characters in the form of Polka-Dot Man, Ratcatcher, Peacemaker, and whoever Idris Elba is playing.
Originally thought to be replacing Deadshot, Elba is now going to play a whole new character for the movie; some speculate that it's going to be Bronze Tiger, but I wouldn't put it past Gunn to have someone else in mind.
James Gunn's The Suicide Squad is aiming to start production later this year and is set for a release on Aug. 6, 2021.
