Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has been in the middle of controversy after a bunch of her tweets were deemed ‘transphobic' by the LGBT community, and though statements from the likes of Daniel Radcliffe, Eddie Redmayne, and Warner Bros have condemned her, Rowling is remaining adamant on her stance and has written an essay addressing the whole controversy.

You can read the whole thing here.

At more than 3,500 words, the essay is actually pretty lengthy, but Rowling takes time to answer all the things that have been thrown at her including accusations of transphobia as well as concerns about women's rights. She ended the whole thing with:

All I'm asking – all I want – is for similar empathy, similar understanding, to be extended to the many millions of women whose sole crime is wanting their concerns to be heard without receiving threats and abuse.

Despite her essay though, it looks like the majority of Twitter is not having it, and everyone has been pointing out holes in her essay, from Rowling writing fondly about more extreme transphobes and having the lack of citations when it comes the info she's putting out. Others are also pointing out how poorly she's timing this controversy, what with the #BlackLivesMatter movement going on.

This is a thread which thoroughly breaks down everything that Rowling put in her essay:

For now, you can go through both sides and see for yourself where you stand. At this point, I'm honestly getting more and more confused about which side to take; personally, I think it's become an issue of miscommunication. Rowling doesn't sound like she intends to be transphobic, but that's what people are getting from her writing somehow.

Like I said, you read both sides and come to your own conclusion.
