Jensen Ackles, who played Dean Winchester on Supernatural, has revealed what his favorite storyline from the show's 15-year run was.

Jared Padalecki starred as Sam alongside Ackles' Dean. Ackles and Padalecki were the only two characters to appear in all 327 episodes of the show, despite the presence of numerous recurrent characters.

Sam and Dean fought their way through a variety of stories during the span of Supernatural. The first mystery in the show involved a yellow-eyed monster who murdered Sam's girlfriend and their mother. Lucifer was finally revealed to be the demon, resulting in one of the series' first major cataclysmic catastrophes.

The boys would later meet angels, such as Collins' Castiel, and even God. There are numerous storylines on Supernatural to choose from, and now Ackles has picked his favorite.

Jensen Ackles Reveals a Storyline ‘I Truly Love’

Ackles was asked about his favorite Supernatural storyline while appearing on the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum show.

Dean's stay in purgatory, according to Ackles, sticks out. Ackles praised the unusual appearance and feel of purgatory, as well as Dean's work with Benny, a vampire, and Castiel.

“I would say one that I truly love that I wish we would have gotten to play a bit more with was Dean in purgatory with Benny and Cass. I thought that was – It was just shot differently, it felt different, it was a different kind of world we were in, we were fighting for survival. It was like this post-apocalyptic feel to it. We were just covered in blood and mud, and it just, it had a different feel, and I enjoyed that."

The purgatory storyline began at the end of the seventh season of Supernatural. Dean and Castiel are taken to purgatory after murdering the leader of the Leviathans, ancient beings that precede humanity and angels.

Where are Sam and Dean Now?

Padalecki and Ackles have rapidly secured new jobs since the end of Supernatural. Walker, a reboot of Chuck Norris' Walker, Texas Ranger, is in its second season, and Padalecki is starring in it. Ackles, meanwhile, played Batman in both installments of Batman: The Long Halloween, and he will next be seen as Soldier Boy in the third season of The Boys.

Despite this, Ackles will be remembered as Dean Winchester for a long time thanks to the success of the Supernatural series.
