Jay and Silent Bob Reboot: First Look at Supergirl Melissa Benoist as the Female Chronic

Director Kevin Smith had teased a few days ago that we would be getting the trailer for the Jay and Silent Bob reboot soon, and the movie is said to be including a female version of Chronic. Just in, he's revelaed who's going to be playing the new version of Bluntman's partner.

It's none other than Supergirl herself, Melissa Benoist!:

Originally the role of Chronic was played by Jay Mewes (with Smith playing Bluntman), but with this movie supposedly being a commentary on the current comic book movie climate, I think it's perfect that we would get a genderbent superhero.

For now, all that's left to guess is who is playing the new Bluntman. With Chris Hemsworth's role still unknown in the film, I'm guessing he would be perfect for that cameo. Why else would you have Thor in your film if he's not going to be a superhero? Besides him, the movie also includes appearances from Joe Manganiello, Justin Long, Rosario Dawson, Grant Gustin, Kate Micucci, and much more.

The panel for Kevin Smith takes place right after Marvel's Hall H panel, so I'm expecting a lot of guests as well. Besides the new Jay and Silent Bob, I'm kind of hoping for updates on other film's by Smith. I am a big fan of the Clerks franchise, and I would honestly love to see Smith tackle more movies in that genre.

No release date has been set for the Jay and Silent Bob reboot, but hopefully we get an announcement during Smith's panel on July 20.
