Jared Leto Thirsts for Blood in First Teaser for Morbius

It's finally here. After the commercial success of Venom, Sony has dropped the teaser for this year's Spider-Verse spinoff, Morbius, and it actually looks pretty interesting.

Here's the official description:

One of Marvel's most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success soon reveals itself to be a remedy potentially worse than the disease.

Unlike the first teaser for Venom, Sony actually got it right by giving us our first look at Morbius' full vampire mode near the end. What's more, we also have a surprising cameo from Michael Keaton's Adrian Toomes a.k.a. Vulture. We don't know what his significance to the story will be, but now I'm having a feeling it will have something to do with Morbius joining the Sinister Six. I know he becomes kind of an antihero in the comics, but I would love to see him go full villain first—unlike what happened with Sony's Venom film.

The movie actually looks alright, and with the newfound connection with the MCU, I'm hopeful that Sony found a way to make this film comparable when it comes to quality. Remember, Venom was supposed to have an MCU connection, but Disney asked it to be pulled out right after they saw the film because they probably knew it was going to be a critical bomb.

Catch Morbius when it hits theaters July 31.
