Jared Leto Teases Michael Keaton's Mystery Role in Morbius

Marvel Cinematic Studios is continuously crafting a bigger universe for Marvel, especially for the Spiderman franchise. From Tom Hardy's Venom, another brewing addition is Jared Leto's Morbius. After last year's release of Morbius' first teaser, we spotted a former Spiderman: Homecoming villain, Michael Keaton's The Vulture that instantly speculates a possible connection to Tom Holland's Peter Parker.

The film follows Jared Leto's Michael Morbius, a biochemist with a rare blood condition that tries to cure himself but ends up turning himself into a vampire.

One confusing scene in the teaser was an appearance of a Spiderman former villain The Vulture who was played by Michael Keaton. This instantly grew a plot hole for the film and remains a mystery whether the Morbius takes place in the same universe that Peter Parker is in.

In the official production release for Sony's Morbius, director Daniel Espinosa alongside the whole cast discussed the upcoming anti-hero origin story film.

Leto discussed how being part of a larger universe ables to pull on some other characters like Michael Keaton.

Leto says, "One of the great things about being part of the larger universe is you get to plant Easter eggs – you get to pull on some other characters to jump in and join your party and surprise people… I couldn’t think of someone I’d rather work with than Michael Keaton – he’s one of my favorites.”

The film's director, Espinosa on the other hand praises Leto's dedication to the film. Espinosa explained, "Jared is a beautiful actor to work with – he comes to set fully prepared, completely immersed in his character… he’s become known for his approach to his characters, but it was truly surprising to see how much emotionality he could wrest out of Dr. Michael Morbius. He has a strong dedication, beginning to end, and more than just an actor. He’s a colleague, a partner.”

While recent reports claim that Morbius doesn't take place in the MCU, casting Michael Keaton as Michael Toomes again is a confusing plot hole for the film. But in recent events of the MCU's Multiverse Saga, anything is nearly possible.

Morbius going up against Tom Holland's Peter Parker and seeing The Vulture once again to antagonize Spiderman would be a really good idea for the franchise.

The Vulture is also an original member of the Marvel Comics Sinister Six and will explain why he still makes a cameo in the next Spiderman spinoff films.

Morbius will hit theaters on April 1 this year.
