James Gunn Updates Fans on Status Of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Script

James Gunn might have been busy completing work on The Suicide Squad, however, it seems like the Marvel director's also been making a lot of progress on the pre-production of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3.

Gunn has always been active on social media, responding to fans' questions about his past films and his upcoming movie projects. Responding to a fan's tweet about doing a stellar job on the next Guardians of the Galaxy movie, the director revealed the status of GOTG 3.

According to Gunn, the pre-production of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has long since moved past its initial stage.

"Vol 3 is long past the first draft stage," the director wrote on Twitter.

While this doesn't really tell us what Gunn has planned for the next Guardians of the Galaxy movie, it does tell us that Gunn is hard at work on the third and final entry in Marvel's Guardians trilogy. It may take a few more drafts for Gunn to complete pre-production, but we're glad to see that the director's making strides on the project despite the COVID-19 lockdown.

It's definitely amazing to see how productive Gunn has been despite the issues that he's had with Disney the past few years. Back in 2018, Gunn was fired from Marvel after alt-right extremists dredged up the filmmaker's insensitive tweets from nearly a decade past. A few months after being axed by Disney, the director was hired by DC to work on The Suicide Squad movie. Then in 2019, Disney rehired the director to work on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is expected to premiere sometime in 2022.
