James Gunn Teases Harley Quinn and King Shark for The Suicide Squad

Details on James Gunn's The Suicide Squad have been pretty slim, aside from all the rumored characters that might be joining the film. While we don't doubt that someone like King Shark would be making his debut, given Gunn's love for weird characters in comics, the fact that we haven't seen anything official has fans anxious. However, Gunn recently shared several images of what the crew did in their downtime on Instagram, one of which may have teased some big characters.

The third image shown has Gunn playing with a giant Scrabble set, which has the words "King" and "Harley" in them. These could be not-so-subtle teases of King Shark and Harley Quinn appearing in the movie, which would be great. While the two have been rumored and reported on, this is the only evidence that could actually show them being in this film.

While David Ayer's Suicide Squad definitely has its fans, most of us can't wait to see this new interpretation from the Guardians of the Galaxy director. Knowing that King Shark and Harley Quinn will be in this movie shows that this will be a wacky and violent movie, which is exactly what this kind of film needs to be.

As someone who has mixed opinions on Harley Quinn and Suicide Squad in general, there's no doubt that Gunn could make this movie better than it should be. If the movie can have similar tones and themes to the original comics written by John Ostrander, it will succeed.

The Suicide Squad comes out on August 6, 2021.
