Excitement is already brewing for the third installment in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise and despite the fact that the film isn't scheduled to come out in theaters until May 2023, director James Gunn recently revealed on social media that he's finally completed the screenplay for the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. While we still don't know much about the project, Gunn and Drax actor Dave Bautista have been teasing for weeks now that the sequel could potentially mark the end of our beloved intergalactic heroes, much to the chagrin of Marvel fans.

Now, a new rumor claims that another major change has been made to the film which is scheduled to begin filming sometime this year. According to a scoop from Murphy's Multiverse, GOTG Vol. 3 will no longer be filming in its original London location but instead will be moving to Atlanta, Georgia in late Fall. The specifics of the production change weren't disclosed.

We're not quite sure why GOTG Vol. 3's production will be moving to a different location but I'm guessing it has something to do with the current pandemic situation which has yet to fully subside. It's worth noting that the COVID-19 cases in the United Kingdom are still considerably high and it may have led to Gunn and his crew coming up with a secondary plan. And besides, Atlanta has already been synonymous with MCU films so it isn't all that surprising that they ended up choosing a location that is pretty much home to them.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is scheduled to premiere on May 5, 2023.
