It's been a rollercoaster of a week for fans of the now-rebranded DC Universe as Warner Bros. Discovery has made it official that we're ushering in a brand new era in the franchise. This week, it was confirmed that James Gunn and Peter Safran will be the co-heads of DC Studios (formerly DC Films) just days following Walter Hamada's exit from the production outfit.

So far, the studio has yet to announce its future plans for the DCU although several projects are reportedly already in the works. Now, before they lay out their long-term scheme to rebuild the franchise, it looks like Gunn's first order of business is to give one of his actors full creative control over their character.

According to a report from Giant Freakin Robot, Gunn is giving Margot Robbie creative freedom moving forward due to the "positive working collaboration" between the two. The outlet notes that considering Harley Quinn has been one of the franchise's highlights, it no longer comes as a surprise how she'll be given free rein when it comes to her portrayal of the beloved anti-hero.

Of all the characters in the DCU, I personally don't think that Margot's Harley Quinn is the one that needs creative focus because in everyone's book, she's done a pretty good portrayal of the character and I can even go as far as saying that she's one of the franchise's redeeming qualities. I guess we'll see with this new and hopefully improved DCU.

That said, James Gunn's next DCU project Peacemaker Season 2 begins filming next year.
