Fans are still being kept in the dark regarding James Gunn and Peter Safran's true plans for the revamped DC Universe but 2023 is shaping up to be the year where everything will finally unfold. As it stands, the DC Studios duo has yet to unveil their film and television slate but speculation is running high that they've already plotted the first 10 years of the franchise.
This week, Variety ran another report that sent shockwaves to the entire DCU fandom. According to the outlet, the first chapter of the franchise won't involve Wonder Woman despite the fact that both Gunn and Safran previously stated that Diana Prince will be one of their top priorities along with other top-tier characters like Superman, Batman, and Harley Quinn.
Following the bombshell news, the director quickly took to Twitter to put the report to rest, reasserting Wonder Woman's place in the new DCU. While he didn't give out details regarding their plans for the character, Gunn assured fans that the trade's scoop is completely false.
Intriguingly, Gunn has yet to confirm whether or not Gadot has a place in the franchise they're rebuilding. Check out James' response below:

If the latest rumors are to be believed, Gal is among the actors who won't be involved in the DCU reboot and if that's the case, I think we can all agree that much like Cavill, the actress is being done dirty by the new regime. Hopefully, there's zero truth to Gal's exit because she's one of the best things about it.
In other DC news, Shazam! Fury of the Gods is scheduled for theatrical release on March 17, 2023.
