James Gunn Praises Warner Bros For Not Interfering With The Suicide Squad

Director James Gunn confirmed that The Suicide Squad is already complete. Not only did he confirmed that the movie is complete, but he also praised Warner Bros for not interfering with the film.

This confirms that Gunn has complete creative freedom to do what he wanted in the film. A fan asked the director on Twitter about WB's involvement in the film. The fan asked whether WB was heavily involved with The Suicide Squad.

WB is known for being involved in the creative process of their films. Some fans weren't too happy with the studio's meddling, saying that there are times they edit the films to the point that the end result looks really bad.

In response, Gunn explained to the fans how he was given total and complete creative freedom on the project. He said that he was able to make every single choice by himself. WB gave very few notes, adding that it was his choice whether he will take them on board or not.

In his response, Gunn even went as far as saying that WB never once even slightly interfered. They gave very few notes which according to Gunn, usually good and minor. He took some of that advice and discarded the others he didn't want to. Gunn graciously praised the studio, stating that Warners was creatively amazing.

This revelation sounds like a great experience for any director who wants to tell their story with little intervention. It is commendable for WB to give Gunn this level of freedom.

This makes it even more interesting as it makes fans wonder how the DCEU would have turned out in the beginning if WB gave Zack Snyder the creative freedom. As for Snyder, he said that it was a constant battle. Hopefully, WB continues to give more creative freedom to its directors.

The Suicide Squad is set to be released on August 6, 2021.
