If you’d asked James Cameron before, he still had some fears about the upcoming sequel may flop because of the time that has lapsed between the first movie and its sequel and considering that the market already changed over the last decade, there would surely be an effect for the upcoming movie. Now, things are changing, too, as the director himself puts confidence in his latest work.

Trolls will always be there to criticize, no movie or show has ever escaped them. Comments will always be heard but at the end of the day, words will just be words. As for James Cameron, he certainly chose to fight fire with fire as he slams down the comments of the trolls in a spicy remark in an interview with Empire magazine.

Cameron shuts down haters of Avatar: The Way of Water so hard with his words, "The trolls will have it that nobody gives a s*** and they can’t remember the characters’ names or one damn thing that happened in the movie. Then they see the movie again and go, ‘Oh, okay, excuse me, let me just shut the f*** up right now.’ So I’m not worried about that.”

The director himself has put on so much effort and time just to deliver Avatar: The Way of Water and he will not tolerate those who’d choose to bring it down. He’d come too far to back down and he is standing his ground, hoping to prove a point that the lapse of time won’t matter anymore once the movie comes out.

It would be no easy feat for Avatar 2 as the first Avatar movie did consider that before, it has so much impact to the audience given the technology used in the film being new then but now, the film would have to compete with franchises having a huge fanbase like that of Star Wars, Marvel, and DC. To have such competitors would make it difficult to get back on the limelight and build a fan base of its own.

Avatar: The Way of Water is scheduled for release on December 16, 2022.
