Jai Courtney Confirms Captain Boomerang Return In James Gunn's Suicide Squad 2

It looks like we'll still be seeing some familiar faces in Suicide Squad 2. Jai Courtney has just confirmed that Captain Boomerang is still part of James Gunn's upcoming DC Extended Universe sequel.

Courtney recently spoke to Business Insider while promoting his new film Storm Boy. Interestingly, the Suicide Squad actor revealed that he is already preparing to reprise his role as Digger Harkness in the sequel to David Ayer's 2016 flick.

"We're getting ready to shoot in a few months' time. There's not much else I can reveal about it but, yeah, you'll be seeing Boomerang back for sure," Courtney said.

This is certainly interesting news considering that there were reports that Gunn is planning to reboot the lineup in the sequel. Some fans believed that the characters who appeared in the first movie will not be returning since Will Smith has decided to retire as Deadshot.

It's still unclear if Courtney will be part of the new lineup or if Captain Boomerang will simply have a small cameo in Suicide Squad 2. Either way, we're looking forward to Gunn's new DCEU project.

Warner Bros. had already confirmed that Gunn will write and direct Suicide Squad 2. However, people were concerned that the project would be sidelined when Disney rehired the Guardians of the Galaxy director to work on the third GOTG film. Luckily, it was revealed that Gunn will finish the DC flick before he begins working on the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie.

Suicide Squad 2 will reportedly begin production in Atlanta, Georgia in September. The film is currently scheduled for release on August 6, 2021.
