Continuing the ongoing trend of adapting isekai light novels with comically long names, the latest addition to the genre is the fantasy comedy I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level. Originally written by Morita Kisetsu and illustrated by Benio, the series has been released by SB Creative in Japan since 2017 with 16 volumes released so far in Japan. The series is being released in English by Yen Press who have released 9 volumes as of January 2021. A manga adaptation began being released in January 2018 with 8 volumes released so far in Japan as of March 2021. Yen Press is also releasing the manga in English and is up to 5 volumes as of March 2021.

In this series, the main character is a woman named Azusa who died from overwork. Reincarnated as an immortal witch in a fantasy world, Azusa wiles away her days by killing slimes in a nearby forest. However, after 300 years, she now finds that she has maxed out her level which brings a whole new host of problems including wandering adventurers and even dragons. Produced by studio Revoroot, the series features Nobukage Kimura as the director working off scripts written by Tatsuya Takahashi.

I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level Trailer

In this calm trailer, we really get to know the premise of the story. We meet our main character and get a good feel for what she wants from her life in this world. She's done the mundane work yourself to death at a job that doesn't care. Now she just wants to kill slimes and relax… if only life were ever that easy. Instead, she has to deal with many weekly intrusions into her life, which sounds like the lighthearted comedy that we all could use in our lives right about now.

The isekai genre is here to stay for a while longer but so long as we keep getting adorable moe slice of life series like these, I think that's perfectly fine. Be sure to check this series out once it premieres on Crunchyroll this April!
