IU started the new year with her first schedule with the 36th Golden Disc Awards. After receiving the Digital Song Of The Year, she expressed her feelings with the 8th digital single, “Celebrity.”

The golden vocalist expressed her gratitude for giving her such a huge and prestigious award in her speech. “Now that I’m receiving the same award again this year, it feels like I’ve wrapped up 2021 very well.”

She showed how nervous she was about giving the speech with the three hosts standing right next to her, but they immediately gave her enough time and space to deliver her gratitude and speech.

IU Thanks Fans For Letting Her Sing For A Long Time

“A lot of people were involved in making this song, and I hope each of them will hear this amazing news and are as delighted as I am. To the non-Koreans who participated and supported this song, (in English) thank you.”

IU did not forget to thank her loyal fans, UAENA, through her speech. “Last year was a meaningful year for me. I worked really hard to promote my music with the thought of concluding my 20s on a good note. I thought this was the best way to express my sincerest gratitude to the fans who have stayed with me for more than ten years.”

She also mentioned the people who helped her release such amazing songs and the ones who continued supporting her career as a singer. “Thank you to everyone around me for helping me stand up once more when I fall. And of course, I want to give this honor back to my fandom, UAENA, my family, EDAM Entertainment, all the staff, and my team.”

IU ended her speech with a message to her self who is now turning 30. “Instead of competing with my past self, I’ll try to live my life well as I am today.”

Meanwhile, IU also takes home two other awards from the 36th Golden Disc Awards. This includes the Digital Song Division Bonsang and Album Division Bonsang.
