The Ossan Newbie Adventurer manga is a fantasy adventure series written by Kiraku Kishima and illustrated by Ken Ogino.
It is originally a light novel series that began serialization on Shosetsuka ni Naro until it moved to the Kakuyomu website and was later acquired by Hobby Japan.
The series centers around Rick Gladiator, a 32-year-old F-rank adventurer who worked as a guild receptionist for 14 years. At his age, everyone considers him old for a new adventurer, and they are concerned about his growth.
Unbeknownst to many, Rick trained with the strongest party collectively known as Orihalcon Fist and has now obtained the combat power of an S-rank adventurer!
Is The Ossan Newbie Adventurer Manga Over? Current Status Explained
As of writing, The Ossan Newbie Adventurer manga adaptation is still ongoing since it started serializing on Hobby Japan’s Comic Fire website on November 22, 2019.
The manga series can be collected in nine tankobon volumes, spread across over 50 chapters, chronicling Rick Gladiator’s late attempt to become an adventurer at 32.
The first volume of The Ossan Newbie Adventurer manga was released way back in May 2020, while the most recent volume was released in March 2024.
There’s no word yet on the manga series’ 10th volume, but it’s likely to come out later this year based on previous releases.
Fans will have to read the Japanese print of the manga, which is available online, as there isn't an official English translation yet.
