In a recent interview with Variety, Colleen Hoover was asked whether there are still plans to develop a sequel to It Ends with Us following its box office success.
She revealed that there is no movement right now to do a sequel, but she cautioned that the second book, It Starts With Us, might not be ideal for a film adaptation
"I wrote that book as a 'thank you' to readers. I don’t know that there’s enough story to make a film. It Ends With Us was so impactful, and it was so well wrapped up in the first film," the author said.
"Of course, if they all came together and wanted to do it, I’m not going to talk anyone out of it. But when I wrote that one, it was never an intention to see it on film. I just wanted to see Atlas and Lily happy."
In an August 2024 interview, Baldoni already addressed the possibility of a sequel, saying he would not return as director and suggested that Lively should take on the role instead.
"I think there are better people for that one. I think Blake Lively’s ready to direct. That’s what I think," he said.
