Is Spider-Man: Far from Home Director Teasing an Alternate Ending?

[SPOILERS FOR SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME]

Spider-Man: Far From Home is currently out in theaters, and it introduces us to a piece of new Stark AI called EDITH. The film ends with Peter officially taking on the responsibility of EDITH, but it looks like an alternate cut of the movie was supposed to have the glasses destroyed.

Check out this IG post from director Jon Watts:

We don't really know why they needed EDITH to be smashed in the film, but I imagine that having it kind of makes Peter a tad overpowered. I mean, why does he even need to be Spider-Man if he can just order a bunch of drones around to carry out attacks?

I don't expect Peter to use EDITH that much though, and it's likely they could just "forget" that Peter has it in the sequel. Maybe it gets hacked and destroyed? We don't really know, but for now, it seems EDITH is kind of a symbolic representation of the responsibility that Tony Stark has left to Peter.

Besides this scene with the broken glasses, there's a lot of other stuff from the trailers that actually got cut from the film i.e., Peter's visit to Delmar's and Spider-Man taking down a club of gangsters. The scene is said to be included in a short film in the Far From Home Blu-Ray. I'm curious if we get to have that scene where EDITH is destroyed.

Catch Spider-Man: Far From Home now in theaters.
