A few weeks ago, it was confirmed that the hit manga Mission: Yozakura Family had reached its climax prompting fans to speculate on whether it was a sign that it was ending its run.

Since 2019 when it originally launched, it has become one of the most popular manga titles in the last few years and it even spawned an anime adaptation which just aired its first season last year.

Is Mission: Yozakura Family Manga Ending?

Yes, Mission: Yozakura Family has ended its manga run after six years, 27 volumes, and 258 chapters.

Chapter 258 was published today, January 20, which officially marks the conclusion of its action-packed story.

While this is sad news for fans, its conclusion was already anticipated in the last few weeks since it reached the "climax" of the story and it was inevitable at that point that it was set to end.

Shueisha is set to publish volume 28 of the manga next month while volume 29, which will be its final one, is set to release on March 4.

This is a significant mark for Shonen Jump since this was one of their first major franchises. Without spoiling the events, it also helps that it has a happy ending that will satisfy fans.

Despite marking the end of an era, Shonen Jump still has several major titles on its slate that will continue their epic streak for the next few years and retain their status as one of the biggest manga publishers.

What is the Future of Mission: Yozakura Family Anime?

Despite the end of the manga, the anime adaptation of Mission: Yozakura Family is still ongoing.

The second season is currently in the works with a release date set somewhere in 2026. More details are expected to be announced in the coming months.

The series made its debut last year with a 27-episode first season that became a massive hit when it was broadcast in Japan and streamed internationally on Disney+ and Hulu.

While the manga has ended its run, the franchise lives on in the anime adaptation and it would be interesting to see whether they will expand it into other multimedia content.
