Since the series premiered last year, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off fans have been wondering whether Netflix is renewing it for a second season or will stay as a limited series.

After all, it's been a year since it premiered on the platform, yet there have been no updates regarding its future. Now, we finally know the answer and it will disappoint a lot of fans.

Is Netflix Renewing Scott Pilgrim Takes Off for Second Season?

Unfortunately, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off executive producer Bryan Lee O'Malley, who also created the graphic novel, confirmed in his recent post on X that the series will not be moving forward with a second season.

He shared that he received a call from Netflix recently regarding the fate of the series and iterated that it was always intended to be a one-season project.

"Anyway, we were recently informed that the show will NOT return. As you know, we only intended one season, and called in a lot of favors to make it happen, so making more would have been nearly impossible. Still, I know some of you have been holding out hope," the writer wrote in his post.

At this point, the news should not come off as a surprise for fans given the lack of updates on its future during the past year since it premiered on Netflix and the producers have said that they intended it to only run for one season.

Despite that, fans were still hoping that the series would move forward with a second season and continue telling more stories of Scott Pilgrim and his friends.

However, alas, we won't be seeing more of the show and all fans can hope is that the franchise will be revisited again at some point in the future.

Why Did Fans Love Scott Pilgrim Takes Off?

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off was praised by fans for its creative spin on the story and how it successfully managed to make Ramonda Flowers the main lead.

The return of the cast from the 2010 film to reprise their respective roles was also celebrated as it is a reunion that they never thought would happen and they get to hear them perform their characters again after all these years.

The first season also managed to tell a complete story without any cliffhangers in the finale so fans did not miss out on anything even if the series won't be moving forward with a new season.

It would be interesting to see whether another Scott Pilgrim adaptation will be produced again in the future and continue telling more stories from that world.
