Revenant is a K-Drama considered a sleeper hit for 2023. Despite not exerting too much work in its marketing, the supernatural Kdrama series was a hit. For those who still haven't watched this series, the big question is: how scary is Revenant Kdrama?
What is Revenant K-Drama About?
Revenant is an occult K-Drama that follows the story of a woman who is possessed by an evil spirit. A folklore professor comes to help free her from the entity before it can fully control her.
The show stars Kim Tae-ri as Gu San-yeong, the young woman who got possessed. In Revenant, she proves that she's more than just a pretty face.
Partnering with her is Oh Jung-se as Yeom Hae-sang, the professor who helps her out, and Hong Kyung as Lee Hong-sae, a lieutenant who gets involved in the case.
Together, they uncover the truth and set San-yeong free.
Is Revenant Scary?
For avid fans of occult shows, Revenant may not be a really scary show. But for those who are scared easily, it is one that will give you nightmares.
Not to mention, the show gets really dark since it tackles the subject of suicide. If you are sensitive to this topic, it's best to steer clear of this show as it can have an emotionally heavy storyline.
As for the jump scares, the show is pretty much expected throughout the show. But they still manage to give a good scare to their viewers. By the time you get scared, you're already hooked on the show and it will no longer affect you.
Is There Romance in Revenant?
There is no romance in Revenant K-Drama despite the strong chemistry between two of the show's lead characters, Kim Tae-ri and Hong Kyung.
In Revenant, the two had a rocky start to their relationship. As the show progressed, they managed to work together and even gave viewers a hint of a romantic undertone.
Unfortunately, the key focus of the series is its horror element. This completely eradicates the possibility of romance for the two in Revenant.
Because of how good the two looked together, avid fans are eager for them to get a romantic series of their own.
The good news is that Netflix announced the two will be reuniting for a new romance movie. Although this is their chance to portray a couple, they won't be appearing on screen.
Instead, they will be lending their voices for Netflix's first Korean animated movie, Lost in Starlight.
Tae-ri will star as Nan Young, an astronaut who goes on a Mars Exploration project in 2050. Meanwhile, Hong Kyung stars as Jay, a musician who falls in love with Nan Young.
The couple will be "in the longest distance relationship ever."
