In episode 23 of The Apothecary Diaries, Lakan speaks highly of his uncle, as if he is the only one who cares about him due to his unfortunate situation.

Since he was born, Lakan has been unable to discern between people as individuals, let alone between men and women. Despite being the first son of a noble family, his father abandoned him, claiming that he would be useless.

However, Lakan's uncle understood him the best, suggesting that if he couldn't recall someone's face, he could know their voice and memorize their mannerisms and body type to distinguish them.

Thanks to his uncle's efforts, Lakan was able to see people's faces, albeit as chess pieces. He perceived his uncle's face as a chariot, and he realized his uncle was a gifted and bright individual.

Unfortunately, when Lakan grew older and advanced through the military ranks, his uncle lost his post as a doctor owing to an unfortunate incident, and they were both exiled from the family.

Yes, Lakan is related to Luomen in The Apothecary Diaries, and viewers were correct to associate Luomen with Lakan's clever uncle in episode 23 because they are the same person.

Lakan's uncle, who lost his post in the Inner Court, later becomes Maomao's adopted father in the series. He is the same man who was expelled from the Inner Court after being held accountable for the Imperial Brother's death, despite safely delivering the baby.

Luomen had become a physician at the Rokushoukan by the time Maomao was born. He adopted Maomao and began teaching her medical knowledge and writing in the hopes of seeing his grand-niece choose a career other than prostitution.

Who would have realized Luomen was Lakan's uncle? Maomao has a complex family history, and everyone related to her has their own story to share.
