With the recent release of Clayface in theaters, some fans are already wondering whether the new DCU horror will get a sequel.
The film was well-received by critics and audiences when it arrived in theaters, as it was praised for its dark tone, its compelling exploration of the titular Batman villain's origins, and Tom Rhys Harries' performance. With its success so far, there are questions about whether DC Studios will develop a follow-up.
Is Clayface Getting a Sequel? The Future of the DCU Villain

As of this writing, DC Studios has not announced any plans to develop a sequel to Clayface or confirmed that the character will appear in the long-overdue The Brave and the Bold movie.
In an interview with Variety before the film's release, director James Watkins made it clear that Clayface was intended as a standalone story and a character study rather than a set-up for the future.
"That’s a question for James Gunn. I liked the standalone nature of it. I liked how it felt like it introduced a character. But I wasn’t trying to introduce the character to go, ‘OK, what next?’ I was trying to introduce the character as a full meal in itself," he said.
When Watkins spoke with The Hollywood Reporter after the film's release, he reiterated that there are no plans yet to develop a sequel, and he has no idea what's next for the character.
"Genuinely, no. I’ve been on a long, long road trying to make this film the best it can be," the filmmaker said. "People ask, 'What are you doing next?' And I’m slightly starting to worry because I have no idea. I’ve been that immersed in Clayface."
For now, it looks like fans should not expect a sequel to Clayface anytime soon, since it was developed as a standalone origin. Most likely, we will see the character again in the DCU Batman movies, where he will face off against the Caped Crusader.
