Story elements that involve killing and fighting generally have always been a part of the shōnen genre. Perhaps a good number of anime fans are already used to seeing bloody animated scenes involving the slashing of bodies. Many of these shows can get pretty violent as well, and Akame ga Kill! is a wonderful example of this—but the story is much more than a series of fighting and brutal murders.

The anime adaptation for Akame ga Kill! was released in 2014 with a total of 24 episodes. The show was adapted from a dark fantasy manga series illustrated by Tetsuya Tashiro and written by Takahiro. The manga was serialized in Gangan Joker from 2010 to 2016. For those who didn't know, there are a lot of differences between the manga and the anime adaptation since the anime ended before the manga did.

Akame ga Kill! follows the journey of Tatsumi, a boy from a remote village who becomes a member of the Revolutionary Army's group of assassins called Night Raid. The Revolutionary Army aims to overthrow the Honest, the manipulative and corrupt prime minister. While he's using the emperor for his own gain, everyone else in the nation is struggling and suffering in poverty.

Fair warning: the series may get bloody, violent, and gory. If that isn't going to be a problem, then this is definitely a must-watch. The underlying message beneath it all is a great one, which is why it's a well-recommended series. The first episode will immediately leave a lasting impression.
