Iron Man 2 Almost Had Ghost as One of the Villains

One of the villains in Ant-Man and the Wasp was Ghost, a character with molecular instability and has invisibility and intangibility powers. But as it turns out, she was supposed to be introduced earlier in the MCU.

Per Screen Rant, according to the book The Story of Marvel Studios: The Making of the Marvel Cinematic Universe by Paul Terry and Tara Bennett, Ghost was supposed to be one of the villains in Iron Man 2. The character's appearance would tie to Justin Hammer and his original role that included creating multiple supporting villains including Whiplash, who ended up being part of Iron Man 2. In the end, they decided to scrap Ghost's inclusion in the film and stick with Justin Hammer and Whiplash as its villains.

In the comics, Ghost is usually an Iron Man villain so it makes sense that they are considering the character to be one of the foes in the film. In the end, it might be the right decision to not include Ghost as one of the villains in Iron Man 2 since that might overstuff the film with having too many antagonists. Justin Hammer and Whiplash were already great villains and served enough narrative purpose. If Ghost also ended up being part of the film, the character would be very different than what we've seen in Ant-Man and the Wasp. In the end, everything still worked out.

It is unknown yet if Ghost will appear again in a future MCU film or show as there are no reports that the character will be making an appearance in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. It would be great to see her again as it was clear by the end of Ant-Man and the Wasp that she is definitely still around and also became friendlier with the main characters.
