Idris Elba Shares Final Response to the Unending James Bond Casting Rumors

Now that Daniel Craig has finally hung the iconic tuxedo of 007 agent James Bond after playing the role for more than a decade, it's finally time to reinvent the franchise with another actor to continue the 007 legacy. Several rumors swirled that A-list actors like Henry Cavill, Tom Hardy, and Idris Elba are in talks to play the role. However, it seems Elba is definitely ruling out his name from the list.

Idris Elba is Exhausted From The Persisting James Bond Casting Rumors

In an appearance in Jemele Hill Is Unbothered, Idris Elba shared his final response to the persisting James Bond casting rumors. There's no denying that the actor fits the typical good-looking stature of Bond, and fans have been eyeing him as the potential next 007 agent. However, despite responding to the rumor several times, Elba decided that he will no longer entertain such questions about the reported casting. See Elba's full quote below:

"I have no more answers for it. I just tell people 'aw, don't ask me that.' Because a lot of times it's really lazy journalism, and people try to use it as clickbait like 'what's he gonna say this time?' I try to say the same things. Every now and then I just tease them, but every now and then I'll give them some philosophy on why I don't want to do it or why it's a rumor. But most times now I tend not to talk about it."

Who Will Be The Next James Bond?

In an interview with Deadline, James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli revealed that it would take “at least two years“ before the next 007 films commence and clarified that the search for the next actor who would replace Daniel Craig as the titular character hasn't yet begun. She said:

"Nobody's in the running. We're working out where to go with him, we're talking that through. There isn't a script and we can't come up with one until we decide how we're going to approach the next film because, really, it's a reinvention of Bond. We're reinventing who he is and that takes time. I'd say that filming is at least two years away."
