How Many Episodes Will Zombie Land Saga Revenge Have?

When Zombie Land Saga first premiered in October 2018, people weren't really sure what to make of it. All they knew was that they wanted more of it! First announced in July 2018 (just mere weeks before the series was set to premiere on airwaves), this original series caught on like wildfire thanks to its energetic voice cast and clever writing. Fast forward a couple of years, and we're all finally getting the much-anticipated sequel titled Zombie Land Saga: Revenge which has become one of the most highly anticipated series of the new season!

Produced by studio MAPPA (Yuri!!! on Ice, Kids on the Slope) and directed by Munehisa Sakai working off scripts written by Shigeru Murakoshi, this zombie comedy starts with a high school girl in 2008 dying after a fateful encounter with truck-kun. Revived a decade later by a guy who likes to scream named Kotaro as a zombie, the girl named Sakura Minamoto (played by Kaede Hondo in Japanese and Brina Palencia in English) must form an idol group with idols from various generations and eras who are also all zombies and save Saga prefecture.

The idols will face various hardships along the way, including making their debut at a death metal concert, trying to gain fans through a rap battle, doing publicity stunts, and remembering their past lives before they were zombies!

The new season is set to premiere on April 8th, 2021 on Crunchyroll and Funimation. So how many episodes will Zombie Land Saga: Revenge have? At the time of this writing, the exact episode count has not been revealed, but based on previous patterns and information, the series will probably follow the same format as the first season and tell its story within twelve episodes.

There is an ongoing manga adaptation that began running in 2018 (around the same time as the anime began airing) and has two volumes in print in Japan thus far. Unfortunately, no one has licensed the manga for an official English release.

Zombie Land Saga is a hilarious original series that deftly walks the line between too silly and too serious. While each episode has its own unique story and quirks, the story pulled in more and more fans week after week as fans began discussing the series and sharing screenshots with each other. Will the second season catch on as strongly and quickly as the first did? Only time will tell.
