The animated superhero show Invincible has made a sensation since it started airing on Amazon Prime Video on March 2021. The show boasts an 8.9/10 rating on IMDb and 4.6/5 on Amazon; near-perfect scores that prove fans warmed up to the action series immediately and want more. So, how many episodes is Season 1 of Invincible going to have?

First, a short overview, in case you have yet to give in and watch Invincible. The Prime show is a superhero story for adults, based on the Image Comics series of the same name, by Robert Kirkman. In it, we follow Mark Greyson, a 17-year-old boy living an ordinary life apart from a small detail: his father is Omni-Man, the most powerful superhero—neither the easiest nor the most stress-free legacy to follow.

The story truly picks up when Mark's superhero powers begin to manifest. Now the teenager has to depend on his father to understand and develop his newfound powers. But delving into his father's legacy means Mark will also come face with the hero's shortcomings, and less-than-noble actions.

The show has been praised for offering a unique take on the superhero genre. In a cliché-riddled genre, with too many orphaned heroes, it's not every day that we see a superhero story focusing on a father-son relationship. Besides, it was the author's intention to not only entertain but also make fans consider the devastating consequences of a clash between overpowered characters.

Unfortunately for fans, the Amazon Prime Video show is over for now. Season 1 has wrapped up in a total of 8 episodes, after providing a conclusion for the season's main arc. The ending was heart-wrenching, and it's totally normal to want more, and want it now. The show's conclusion might be bad news for some—but don't despair just yet.

There's hope for much more Invincible content in the near future. On the show's official Twitter account, it was announced that Invincible has been renewed, not for one, but for two more seasons. Thankfully, there is still plenty of comic material to draw from, so we can rest assured that this decision is not forced by the first season's popularity alone.

Of course, we don't have a release date or timeline yet, but given how beloved the show has become, there's hope that it will be sooner rather than later.
