While Manabu and Suzune’s moment in the episode was the highlight, many fans are more excited by Ayanokoji, who has now gained valuable allies, both in the student body and the faculty.
Spoiler Warning: This article includes spoilers for Classroom of the Elite season 3 episode 12 onward, so proceed with caution.
Who Is Tomonari Mashima in Classroom of the Elite?
One of Ayanokoji’s allies moving forward is Tomonari Mashima, the English teacher and homeroom teacher of Class 1-A.
Mashima is a serious teacher who is liked by his students. Despite his stern nature, he cares for the well-being of his students, not to mention that he has a strict moral code. This makes him a trustworthy character.
While he’s Class A’s homeroom teacher, he has gotten to interact with Classroom of the Elite protagonist Kiyotaka Ayanokoji plenty of times.
His latest interaction with him was a meeting that involved Arisu Sakayanagi and Sae Chabashira.
The purpose of this meeting was to discuss Tokinari Tsukishiro, a character who is shaping up to be the next big antagonist of the series.

Tokinari Tsukishiro: Exploring the Identity of Classroom of the Elite’s Next Antagonist
Tokinari Tsukishiro was introduced in episode 9, and he already made quite an impression as he has a violent outburst against Sakayanagi and Ayanokoji.
It is then revealed that Tsukishiro will soon start working formally in the school as the replacement for Chairman Sakayanagi.
As mentioned in the light novel series, Tsukishiro was sent by Ayanokoji’s father to become the school’s acting chairman. His goal is to get Ayanokoji expelled so he can return to the White Room.
How Did Mashima Know about Tsukishiro in Classroom of the Elite?
Ayanokoji shares with Mashima in their episode 12 meeting that the previous chairman’s suspension and the final exam results were manipulated by Tsukishiro.
Mashima wasn’t fully convinced, though he goes along with it because of what happened to him.
As Chabashira explained, Mashima was given a salary cut for violating the special exam rules, even if it was for a student’s safety.
Given this, Mashima agrees that this should not continue, effectively meaning he supports Ayanokoji in his fight against Tsukishiro.
This won’t be covered in the third season though, as there’s only one episode remaining.
