The highly anticipated House of the Dragon Season 2 trailer has finally arrived.

This new look at the upcoming season shows the forces of Aegon and Rhaenyra Targaryen, the two claimants to the throne, preparing for the ultimate showdown that will decide the fate of the realm and House Targaryen.

HBO has released not just one but two official trailers called the 'Black' and 'Green' trailers for the upcoming second season of House of the Dragon. Each trailer represents the two sides of the House Targaryen civil war in the Game of Thrones prequel.

After the dramatic fallout of Season 1, House Targaryen was left in a state of turmoil. The trailer offers a glimpse into the chaos that ensues. See it for yourself below.

Green represents the side of King Aegon II, the ruling king of the House Targaryen. Aegon threatens war against those who dare stand against him, saying that he is as fearsome as any one of his opponents.

Black represents the forces of Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, the firstborn child of King Viserys I. Rhaenyra expresses not only her resolve to wrestle the throne from Aegon but also her fear for what she has begun.

House of the Dragon showrunner Ryan Condal spoke to Deadline about the upcoming season.

“I’m excited to pick up where we left off,” Condal said. “Now we get to fall into the more traditional rhythms of storytelling and Game of Thrones.

"We’ve always talked about this particular tale, George [R.R. Martin] has too, of being a Shakespearean or Greek tragedy.

"This series is very much about a house tearing itself apart from within."

The hype for the new season is growing. Yesterday (March 20), we were treated to several character posters for Season 2—with the caption 'All must choose,' referencing Team Black and Team Green from the looming House Targaryen civil war.

The prequel series is set around 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and depicts the fall of House Targaryen.

The first season featured an all-star cast, including Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Milly Alcock, Rhys Ifans, and Olivia Cooke.

So, are you Team Black or Team Green?

House of the Dragon Season 2 will premiere in June 2024, with new episodes released weekly.
