Home Alone 2 star shares the "wild" night he had with Donald Trump, the former US President, after filming.

The Home Alone franchise will always be that classic '90s comedy flick that sparks nostalgia on Christmas day. However, what makes it stand out from the rest is because of one particular cameo from Donald Trump in the sequel.

Before we get into that though, here's how Trump made it into Home Alone 2.

Explaining THAT Donald Trump Cameo in Home Alone 2

When Kevin McCallister (played by Macaulay Culkin) was asking for directions to go into The Plaza Hotel in the sequel, he ran into Donald Trump, who owned the establishment in real life at the time.

While that would have explained the cameo, helmer Chris Columbus said it wasn't that simple.

The director added that most New York City locations would only require paying a fee before being granted permission to shoot in that location. The Plaza, however, was a different story.

According to Columbus, Trump "said OK" as they paid the fee for the location. However, Trump also said, "The only way you can use the Plaza is if I'm in the movie." In the director's own words, Trump "did bully his way into the movie."

Trump, on the other hand, shared his side on December 28, 2023, by saying that "Columbus and the others were begging" him to make a cameo in Home Alone 2. "Nothing could be further from the truth," he added, in response to Columbus' statement.

While Columbus wanted to clear him from the digital copy of the movie, they let his cameo stay, considering the feelings behind the people who "cheered when Trump showed up on-screen."

Home Alone Legend Shares One "Wild Night" After Filming Sequel

Home Alone's thief Marv Murchins actor, Daniel Stern, recently published his new memoir titled, Home and Alone, which was released on May 21 from Viva Editions.

The 66-year-old actor (For All Mankind, City Slickers) recounts some behind-the-scene action about his time on the franchise in said memoir.

Apart from unveiling some of the most iconic scenes from Home Alone such as the tarantula gag, and what it was like working with Macaulay Culkin, Stern also mentioned his first meeting with Trump.

Upon recalling some of the most memorable moments during his time on the franchise, he reveals one wild night where he spent $7000 (£5,480) using the former US President's credit card.

When Stern had met him on the day of the shoot, he went with some of the stunt guys on Home Alone into a hotel's bar The Oak Room where Trump happened to walk into.

He offered, "Drinks are on me," which led Stern and the others to buy drinks for the entire bar for the entire night.

"We figured it was about 7000 bucks which is a drop in the bucket to the man and he felt good about it," Stern added, "We felt good about it so that was a win-win."

Stern also admits he gets 'sick' of the movies he stars in once he's completed his job, "I love that other people watch it but I'm kinda sick of it."

Home Alone appears to be special, as he called it 'the blessing of a lifetime' especially when fans would still end up stopping him in the streets to say he's a "big part of their holiday."
