Best known for his role in the Twilight series, Robert Pattinson will be taking the mantle from Ben Affleck to play the titular character for Matt Reeves' The Batman. It certainly came as a surprise for some fans when the news about his casting broke out, but here's why the actor feels like it's the right hero for him to play.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Pattinson was asked why he took on the superhero role. "There was something that always appealed to me about it," he said. "I feel like it sort of exists outside the realm of this sort of [blockbuster]."

The actor noted that Batman movies have always "attracted" good directors and actors playing in it. "It's got a legacy and lineage to it which it's never seemed to me like it's been a cash-in or something," Pattinson added.

He then went on to talk about how fans still enjoy watching the classic TV series and gushed about the performances, the art, and how there was something special about them. Pattinson also admitted that he was "obsessed" with the Tim Burton Batman movies when he was younger.

It seems like the actor is really enthusiastic about playing the role and fans can't wait to see his take on the iconic superhero. For now, there isn't much known about the movie's plot but some set photos have already gone around. Fans got their first look at Pattinson's Batman who was actually on a motorcycle for the scene they were filming.
