It's been a crazy last couple of days for the entire comic book movie fandom as Henry Cavill officially made his long-awaited comeback to the DC Universe after years of being missing in action. There's no denying that his Superman return felt like a huge impossibility for a time and there were even rumors suggesting that Cavill has given up on the role.

In fact, prior to his Superman announcement, the star of Netflix's The Witcher and Enola Holmes has been rumored to appear in Loki Season 2 as the villain Hyperion. Now, he is finally opening up about his potential jump to the MCU.

Speaking with MTV News correspondent Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the 39-year-old British star finally addressed his long-rumored jump to the MCU. It turns out that there's zero truth to the rumors despite several outlets picking it up. "As far as I know, I am not going to be in Loki," Cavill said.

Although the actor has a lot on his plate currently, especially after his internet-shattering Superman announcement, he's not closing his doors on potential joining DC's rival franchise. He continued: "It would be a tricky one to handle at this stage…If James Gunn can do it, maybe I can too."

Of course, the chances of him actually pulling an Andrew Garfield on fans will always be there but considering how packed his current schedule is, I do think the possibility of him setting foot in the MCU in the near future is currently off the table.

And let's be honest, playing a Superman ripoff in the Marvel Universe would be a major downgrade for him and I'm just so glad that he's finally back where he truly belongs.

Details surrounding Man of Steel 2 remain under wraps. Meanwhile, Loki's second season is currently in production.
