Hawkeye: Vincent D'onofrio Addresses Kingpin's Fate after Hawkeye Finale

There is little doubt that fans were delighted to see Wilson Fisk's return in the Hawkeye season finale after the previous episode's big tease. However, it also looked like Kingpin bit the dust as he gets shot. So is the crime boss truly dead or will he continue to play a major role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Vincent D'onofrio has addressed the possibility that Kingpin will return despite his ambiguous fate in So This is Christmas?

In the Hawkeye season finale, Kingpin finally showed up as he was confronted by Maya Lopez for the death of her father by Ronin's sword. This led to Maya shooting Wilson Fisk and seemingly killing him although the character's death is not shown.

So is Kingpin dead or will we see more of him in the MCU? Vincent D'onofrio told Collider that he isn't sure quite yet since Marvel Studios "just don't tell" him any details. However, he was quick to share what he felt in that crucial moment.

"So, it made me hope that it would continue and it still makes me feel that way. I mean, in my mind, she definitely shot him," D'onofrio said. He then pointed out that he felt the same way after Daredevil's cancellation.

"I walked away from Daredevil, at first I thought, 'Maybe he'll come back somehow.' And then very quickly after that, I thought I was walking away for good," D'onofrio said.

It's a vague response but it does tease D'onofrio's continuing hope for Daredevil. Additionally, there have been speculations that Kingpin will show up in the Hawkeye spin-off Echo. If Fisk is truly dead, he could still show up in the new show through flashbacks. Either way, we are all hoping to see more of the character soon.

All six episodes of Hawkeye are now streaming on Disney+.
