Everyone is loving the first Hawkeye trailer as it teases an awesome action comedy set during the holidays. You know, like Die Hard. But what has Clint Barton been up to before he shows up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe series? The official synopsis for the Disney+ show reveals Clint's fate after the events in Avengers: Endgame.

The Hawkeye trailer confirms that Clint has reunited with his family and is ready to spend Christmas with them. However, the reunion is interrupted when Clint realizes that someone may have taken the Ronin mantle. Still, he promises his daughter he will be home for Christmas.

But what was Clint doing before all of this goes down? The Hawkeye synopsis confirms that the Avenger had a few loose ends to tie up.

"Disney+ and Marvel Studios invite you on an unexpected holiday getaway with Hawkeye, a new series set in post-blip New York City. Former Avenger Clint Barton has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. Possible? Maybe with the help of Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old archer with dreams of becoming a Super Hero. The two are forced to work together when a presence from Barton's past threatens to derail far more than the festive spirit."

That's right, Clint is no longer an Avenger. Although we don't know how it happened, it's possible that the archer decided it's time to retire and spend the rest of his life doting on his family. Of course, that's going to be a lot harder than it sounds.

The synopsis also confirms that the main villain will be someone from Clint's past. Could this be Yelena Belova, who is determined to get revenge for the death of Natasha Romanoff? Hopefully, we'll learn more about the storyline in the next few weeks.
