Who would've known that the After movie would spawn more for the franchise and eventually, even a series based on one of One Direction's stars, Harry Styles? Here are 7 Harry Styles fanfic-based movies and series — ranked from 'Truly Awkward' to 'Almost Aw-dorable!'

And yeah — it's a lot more common than you think. Starting off with...

  1. After We Collided (2020)

You heard it right here — the second After the movie, After We Collided, may be the worst case of the five-movie franchise.

Not only does Tessa keep trying to come back to the toxic ex she once swore to herself never to return to, but Hardin becomes even more unbearable in this sequel for growing into a jealous ex.

Mind you, an ex who keeps following Tessa, even though the two are still broken up. (Tessa could've just as easily leaned on Zack— I mean, Dylan Sprouse).

  2. After We Fell (2021)

Think After We Collided (2020), except that Tessa's long-lost father is now in the picture.

While the same old shenanigans are back with Tessa and Hardin's fights between themselves, Tessa is more decisive and vocal about what she wants in Seattle, even if it means not having Hardin 100% on board with this one.

It also happens to discuss the more serious aspect of their ongoing relationship: Tessa finds out she can't get pregnant and Hardin finds out the truth about his father.

  3. After Everything (2023)

You'd think that After Everything would finally settle things between these two, considering this is the presumed last movie of the franchise, but no.

It took Hardin four movies before realizing the consequences of his actions towards Tessa.

It took Tessa four movies before she concluded that she still wanted to love Hardin, hence the title, even after everything they went through. The typical meeting their exes again at a wedding trope. And... they get married. Yay?

It drove a huge wedge between Tessa and Hardin when she found out she could never get pregnant. But news flash! The fifth film completely forgets that fact and she does bear two kids with Hardin.

  4. After Ever Happy (2022)

After Ever Happy just revealed the biggest twist the franchise had been building up behind Tessa's back — Hardin had been jotting down every moment, from the dirty laundry to the intimate moments he shared with Tessa.

You'd think this would ultimately end their relationship after going back and forth in the same routine, but no. It doesn't.

As confusing as the title of this fourth film, the fifth flick is even more complicated.

  5. After (2019)

Listen — the first After movie is not as bad as the rest of the films that came to bring this franchise to life, which is still true.

It's a typical romantic comedy of a meet-cute between Tessa (Josephine Langford) and Hardin (Hero Fiennes Tiffin) in college, where their chemistry kickstarts in the middle of a debate in class about where Pride and Prejudice should stand.

It's the best among its five films, but not marked the best on this list.

  6. Happy Together (2018-2019)

Happy Together follows a married couple's routine getting dragged into mega-star Cooper's (played by Felix Mallard) life of fame. You can guess who's the Harry Styles-like figure.

Although this isn't based on fanfic, it's based on the one incident when Ben Winston, one of One Direction's former executive producers for their music videos, ended up welcoming Harry into their London home and letting him stay over for 18 months.

The 13-episode sitcom revolves around how Jake (Damon Wayans Jr.) and Claire (Amber Stevens West) advise Cooper whenever he needs their help, or whenever the married couple wants to reminisce their youth through their celebrity neighbor.

Definitely more wholesome than the After franchise.

  7. The Idea of You (2024)

Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Halitzine in a single movie? Sign me up.

The Idea of You is the most recent Harry Styles fanfic-based film on the list and it's close to telling a pretty decent story between a 40-year-old single mom, Solène, and her secret affair with Hayes Campbell, who is 24.

It sets up the same common cliché about how the idol ends up noticing one of his many fans among the crowd in his concert, except The Idea of You also happens to explore the difficulties and struggles with age-gap dating.

However, the entire storyline, the characters, and the ending are pretty much more realistic and practical than the rest on this list.

Then again, this would depend on the fan, if it's their cup of tea, too.
